Three friends — Mia, Leo, and Aria — build a birdhouse over one school week.
Day 1 — Monday — The plan
They decide to build a birdhouse. Three choices: it's for sparrows, it will hang in the apple tree, and it must survive the rain. One thing they can't agree on: what color to paint it? (open question) Mia will gather the wood; Leo will find the tools.
Day 2 — Tuesday — Cutting
Mia's wood and Leo's tools are both done. They add a slanted roof so the rain runs off (this backs up the "survive the rain" rule). Aria will cut the panels. New question: how big should the entrance hole be?
Day 3 — Wednesday — A change of mind
They switch the plan: not sparrows — bluebirds! (this replaces the sparrow decision). That settles the hole question: a 1.5-inch hole for bluebirds (the question is answered). Aria cuts the panels — done.
Day 4 — Thursday — A problem
Leo assembles the box — done. But it's too heavy for the apple-tree branch. So they decide to mount it on the fence post instead (this replaces "hang in the tree"). Mia picks the color at last: paint it blue to match the bluebirds (the color question is answered).
Day 5 — Friday — Finished
Mia paints the birdhouse blue — done, the finished house. Aria mounts it on the fence post — done. The project is complete. One new open question hangs in the air: will the birds actually come?
